Struggling with anxiety? There’s a group for that.
Join Cara Lai FitzGibbon, MSW for a six-week guided meditation and mindfulness group.
Mindfulness means paying attention to what’s happening in the present moment with kindness and curiosity. There has been extensive research indicating that practicing mindfulness has tremendous positive effects on the brain, leading to increased happiness, compassion, and self-esteem.
This six-week group will introduce you to mindfulness through guided meditation, in-depth instruction, group discussion, a variety of interactive activities, as well as instruction for practicing at home between sessions. We will learn self-awareness, empathy, techniques to calm and focus the mind, and mindful communication–all of which create the grounds to reduce anxiety and foster joy in daily life.
Note that this group is based on the principles of Buddhism, but is a completely secular group, and mindfulness is a skill that requires no allegiance to any particular religion. Also note that this group may not be suitable for individuals with certain trauma histories. Please contact Cara at (802) 684-0771 or fill out this form if you have any questions, or to register.
